DCS Expands!
As the warehouse build at Banbury draws to a close, it is a good time to reflect on this massive undertaking that started in the summer of 2020. We started by constructing a new 36 bay lorry park and a 230m long road. This allowed us to start the groundworks for the new warehouse as the new building would cover the previous lorry park and also block access to the rear of the site.
With phase one complete in March last year we broke ground on phase two of the project. We started by breaking up the previous lorry park (which will be recycled and used for the foundations of future buildings on site) and 12 months later we have reached its completion.
The building stands at 16m tall, is 60,000 sqft in size and increases our site by 24% to 265,000 sqft at Banbury. It is by far the largest building we have built in the company’s history. When the warehouse is made operational in the coming weeks, it will have 5,000+ pallet locations, 2 mezzanine floors above goods in, 8 loading doors and a new sprinkler system with large pumps and tanks to service roof and in-rack sprinklers. The 1st floor will be in use from day one to service new business and the 2nd floor will be outfitted as supplier meeting rooms.
This year will also see this building being used for additional business that continues to grow. In 2023 we will see the warehouse fully racked to its full 8,000 pallet capacity which will be used for bulk storage of many more market-leading brands!
This is a huge part of our plans to develop our Banbury site, continue growing our business and create more jobs. Thank you to everyone who has been involved in this project. It is a huge milestone on our journey and we should all be proud of what has been achieved. The work that has been put into this building has created a great foundation for our business in the decades to come.
